Mount Laurel, NJ — Master Electrician for Homes & Light Commercial

← Back to all service areas

Mount Laurel's mix of townhomes, single-family, and small commercial buildings keeps us busy. We treat a 1,400 sq ft Birchfield townhouse panel job with the same documentation as a 10,000 sq ft warehouse service upgrade.

Townhouse panel work — what's different

Mount Laurel townhouses often share a common wall with a neighbor's panel on the other side. That changes how we route grounding electrode conductors and how we handle bonding to the cold-water main when the main is in a shared mechanical room. We've done enough of these to know which HOA documents to read first and which we can ignore.

Light-commercial: small offices, retail, dental

• Three-phase 208/120V troubleshooting — voltage imbalance, leg loss, motor protection

• Office build-outs: feeders, sub-panels, dedicated circuits for IT racks and copiers

• Sign and parking-lot lighting on photocell and time-clock control

• Emergency egress and exit-sign installations to NFPA 101

What 'Master Electrician' actually means in NJ

In New Jersey, only a licensed Electrical Contractor with a Master Electrician of record can legally pull a permit and operate as an electrical business. Many companies advertise 'master technicians' or 'master craftsmen' — those titles aren't licensed and don't mean the work was supervised by a Master. We're a real licensed contractor, license number on the truck, on the COI, and on every permit application.

Mount Laurel Township permit timing

Routine residential permits (panel swap, EV charger, generator) come back in about a week through the Mount Laurel construction office. Commercial plan reviews take longer — budget two to three weeks for anything over 100A or with three-phase work.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can you work on my Mount Laurel townhouse without HOA drama?

Most of the time, yes. Interior electrical work generally doesn't need HOA approval. The exception is anything that touches the exterior — a generator, a meter relocation, a NEMA 14-50 outside the garage. For those we give you the manufacturer cut sheets and a placement diagram you can submit to the HOA architectural committee.

Do you handle three-phase work for small commercial spaces?

Yes. We troubleshoot 208/120V and 480/277V systems, replace fused disconnects and motor starters, and install sub-panels for tenant fit-outs. We won't take on industrial gear we can't safely service — if it's a 2,000A switchgear with arc-flash labeling you need a specialty shop, and we'll tell you that on the first call.

Are you actually licensed in New Jersey, or just 'insured'?

Both. DK Electrical Solutions holds an active New Jersey Electrical Contractor license under a Master Electrician of record, plus general liability and workers' comp. We hand the license number and COI to any homeowner or GC who asks before we pull the first permit.
