Mercer County Electrician — Trenton, Hamilton & Surrounding Towns

← Back to all service areas

Mercer County is split between PSE&G in the south and JCP&L along the western edge — we work both. Trenton's older row-home stock and Hamilton's mid-century ranches need different approaches, and we run the right crew for each.

Every job is permitted through the local township construction office, signed off by a New Jersey Master Electrician, and inspected before final payment is requested.

Trenton row-home wiring realities

A large share of Trenton row homes still have 60A or 100A fused services with knob-and-tube branch circuits hidden above plaster ceilings. Full upgrades require coordinating PSE&G's cut, replacing the riser through the brick parapet, and bonding to a new ground rod array driven into the rear yard. We do the masonry patch ourselves so you don't hire two trades.

Hamilton Township sub-developments

Yardville, Mercerville, Hamilton Square, and the Nottingham section are all on our weekly route. Most homes there were built between 1955 and 1985 with 100A or 150A panels — Federal Pacific Stab-Lok is still common in the Nottingham and Yardville sections and is a top priority swap for insurance compliance.

Generator and standby installs in Mercer County

Air-cooled standby units (Generac Guardian 22kW, Kohler 20RCA) on a composite pad with a 200A service-entrance-rated automatic transfer switch. We coordinate the gas line drop with PSE&G or your propane supplier, so the unit is commissioned and load-tested before we leave.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does Trenton require a separate historic-district approval for exterior conduit and meter work?

Inside the Mill Hill and Hanover-Academy historic districts, yes. We file the HPC certificate of appropriateness alongside the electrical permit, specify EMT painted to match the brick, and route the riser to keep it off the primary façade whenever possible.

Which Mercer County towns are on PSE&G vs. JCP&L?

PSE&G covers Trenton, Hamilton, Ewing, Lawrence, and the Princeton corridor. JCP&L picks up parts of Hopewell Township and the western edge near the Delaware River. The cut/reconnect scheduling and online application portal are different for each — we handle both.

Are you actually licensed in New Jersey, or just 'insured'?

Both. DK Electrical Solutions holds an active New Jersey Electrical Contractor license under a Master Electrician of record, plus general liability and workers' comp. We hand the license number and COI to any homeowner or GC who asks before we pull the first permit.
